Is it only for the last moments of life?
No—recipients can receive it multiple times, any time they need healing.
When is it best to schedule the anointing?
When possible, it is best to schedule the anointing when the ill person is able to participate and understand the graces bestowed by this beautiful sacrament. He or she may wish to also celebrate Reconciliation or receive Communion.
